Gustav Clarkson – Orchestra of St John's | Taking classical music out into the community

Gustav Clarkson

John Lubbock writes:

It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce the death of Gustav Clarkson the principal viola of OSJ.

Gustav played for us for many many years and was a wonderful friend and an absolute joy to make music with. He had a very broad range of interests and he brought a wide variety of experiences to the music.

He was very quiet and modest but very strong in his musical integrity and was an enormous support to me personally and everything OSJ stood for.

In his work for Music for Autism he had a deep understanding and empathy for all the children we worked with.

He will be hugely missed by us all in both our concert work and our work in the community.
