Sit back and enjoy, as OSJ Artist in Residence Rupert Egerton-Smith returns to perform a romantic piano favourite, Grieg’s much-loved concerto. Experience Debussy’s evocative Clair de lune. The evening culminates in the Peer Gynt Suite, with the Orchestra of St John’s ready to transport you to the hall of the mountain king and beyond.
Celebrate Easter with an evening of Mozart’s most sacred music, including his magnificent oratorio, performed by renowned soloists and backed by the full forces of the Orchestra of St. John’s and the OSJ Voices. They are joined by award-winning sisters Fiona and Jean Kelly, who will perform Mozart’s divine Concerto for Flute and Harp, the only piece he wrote for the harp.
The sublime beauty and simple power of music is showcased in this evening’s concert. Soprano Ilona Domnich, described by Opera Now as having a voice of ‘silken beauty’, joins the orchestra and OSJ Voices to perform two pieces from the German Austrian greats Brahms and Strauss on a theme of farewell, serenity and peace.
Our final concert this spring celebrates the sounds of strings and piano in all their richness. Internationally acclaimed British pianist Ashley Fripp joins the orchestra to perform equally wonderful works written centuries apart by Bach and Finzi. The strings of OSJ will also perform Finzi's Rom,ance, and Tchaikovsky’s heartfelt serenade, filling SJE Arts with music of beauty and tenderness to round off our season.
Our autumn season continues with an evening of sublime music from J.S. Bach. We are delighted to welcome back young violinist Poppy McGhee who, alongside Michel Tirabosco, will join the Orchestra in conjuring all the musical richness and joy of one the world’s most seminal composers.
We unite Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A Major with three other works inspired by the great master: Tchaikovsky’s affectionate orchestral tribute Mozartiana, Reger’s 1914 delightful theme and variations, and Venezuelan-born Hahn’s playful overture from his 1925 Mozart opera.
