  • A concert of classical and jazz music given by autistic performers. 6pm at Dorchester Abbey

    A heart-warming family concert hosted by the internationally renowned savant pianist Derek Paravicini and friends, including stunning young violinist Poppy McGhee, and acclaimed soprano Hannah Davey, and featuring young musicians on the autism spectrum – some performing for the first time in public. There will be music from a wide range of styles, including classical and jazz. Expect the unexpected!

  • Bucolic Britain. 7pm at Dorchester Abbey

    Elgar's Enigma Variations present a bucolic image of pre-war Britain, his cello concerto is a much-loved staple of late Victorian English concert repertoire. Yoanna Prodanova plays on a Giuseppe Gagliano cello. We open with Brahms' Tragic Overture.

    The Siegfried Idyll was a birthday greeting to Wagner’s wife Cosima in 1870. Dvorak's lively Slavonic Dances date from 1870, Saint-Saens' La Nuit from 1900, Coleridge-Taylor's irresistibly tuneful and big-hearted violin concerto from 1912.
    Elodie was a finalist in BBC Young Musician of the Year 2018 and is an ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation.

    Mozart's last work, written as he drew his final breaths, is his most loving and human. Ave Verum, unlike the dramatic Requiem on which Mozart was working at the same time, is simple and humble; Mozart called it sotto voce (subdued).

  • Requiem re-interpreted, 7pm at SJE Arts

    SJE Arts Iffley Road

    Garwyn Linnell's cello is at the heart of this concert. In the cello suite No. 2 Bach is at his most intimate. 
    The plangent cello in Syvati  represents the Priest, the choir sings as the coffin is borne out of the church.
    Durufle's Requiem is often described as the only worthy successor to Faure's. Duruflé’s sensuous harmonies suffuse every note with feeling.
