My Music

Famous people discuss music that has meant the most to them in their lives. OSJ plays their choice of pieces. At China Exchange UK and St John’s Smith Square, London, and SJE Arts Oxford.

Audiences in London, Oxford and at music festivals around the UK have acclaimed these wonderful evenings of music and conversation. At each event, the guest talks about his life and musical influences, shares his opinions and chooses a selection of music. The Orchestra of St John’s plays these under its Musical Director, John Lubbock.

In 2016 you enjoyed fascinating evenings with ex cabinet minister David Mellor, Woman’s Hour presenter Jenni Murray, entrepreneur Sir David Tang, actor Timothy West and Nicholas Parsons from Just a Minute.

In 2017 we welcomed Prue Leith cook, author and TV personality, Libby Purves journalist from Mid Week, Sir Roy Strong, art historian, writer and garden creator, and John Julius Norwich, historian and author.

2018 brings Sir Trevor McDonald broadcaster, Sir Simon Jenkins columnist, Lord Hague politician and Lord Archer novelist. Plus Sir Martin Smith at the Ashmolean Prom in March 2018.

Each one has had a prominent career and is happy to express some strong opinions!
