DESCRIPTION:Marking Cayenna Ponchione-Bailey’s final concert as OSJ’s Associate Conductor\, join us for a powerful evening uniting music and the moving image. \nReflecting some of the key questions of our time\, including the environment and social equality\, this multisensory performance will present live OSJ’s newest commissions for string orchestra and film\, Many Worlds in One Place\, Earth Flow and Reaching Water. Alongside will sit gorgeous music by some of the silver screen’s finest composers including Shostakovich and John Williams\, as well as Arvo Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel\, accompanied by film and live artwork created in response to the music. \nIn this collaborative concert\, OSJ will perform alongside talented Welsh violinist Siobhan Clough\, Oxford-based alternative pop duo pecq and visual artist\, Hugo Max from the Oxford Ruskin School of Art. The panellists will explore how science and art can come together to address the water and climate crises. \nThe webinar is the second of a series aimed at engaging audiences by connecting them to water science and issues related to water security through music and visual arts. The When Waters Speak webinar series focuses on rivers and considers new means of expression to reflect on the value of water in the context of a changing climate and its crucial importance for all aspects of human life. You can access the recording of our first event\, Earth Flow\, which took place on 22 March. \nRivers\, and other water bodies\, are the blood vessels of our world. They provide fresh water to support\, directly or indirectly\, the lives and daily livelihoods of billions of people globally. DESCRIPTION:Schoenberg Notturno for strings and harp\nGeorge Walker Idyll\nDebussy Dances for strings and harp\nSuk Serenade \nGwenllian Llyr harp \nOrchestra of St John’s\nJohn Lubbock conductor \nThis is one of a series of socially distanced chamber concerts at Dorchester Abbey. \nTo allow as many as possible to attend\, we are  offering two identical concerts of about 1 hour with no interval – one starting at 6pm\, the other starting at 8 pm. Please select the time you prefer. \nWe will live-stream the concerts on our YouTube channel free of charge\, but we ask for donations. \nWe will follow strict procedures. Seating will be preallocated by household. All tickets must be prebooked.  The Abbey will not allow sales at the door. \n**For ‘Track and Trace’\, please include your telephone number in the notes field of your order. The rules are that we must record ‘first name\, second name and telephone number for one member of each group’** \nWhen you purchase tickets\, we politely ask that you add a voluntary donation\, equal to the price of a ticket\, to support our work in the community and with children in Special Educational Needs schools.
