Chris Nall - Percussion


Chris studied Timpani and percussion at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama from where he graduated winning the Lady Mayoress of London Prize in 1982.

During the 1980s Chris worked extensively in London's West End performing in shows at venues including Drury Lane, The Old Vic & the London Palladium, with well known names such as Lulu, Tommy Steel, Frankie Howerd, Michael Ball and many more.

As well as theatre work Chris plays with Britain's leading orchestras including the ECO, RPO, BBC, CBSO, Mozart Players, Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the Philharmonia. He is currently Principal Timpanist with the Orchestra of St John's and Principal Percussionist for the Guildford Philharmonic.

Education is the other main branch of Chris's career. He holds teaching posts at Eltham College and the internationally renowned Bromley Youth Music Trust. As well as working as an examiner for the Guildhall for many years, Chris presents children's workshops both on behalf of orchestras and independently under the title "Percussion Parade".
